Interested in becoming a volunteer? Great! We need you! The success of the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation depends on the energy and determination of our compassionate volunteers. There are different volunteer options available:
Get involved in organizing our events! The St. Maarten AIDS Foundation hosts a variety of events throughout the year. For instance we hold a minimum of five free confidential testing days, fundraising events around the Stronger Together/ Red Ribbon campaign, the annual International Candlelight Memorial, and multiple activities around the World AIDS Day. Each event requires a large amount of work and would not be possible without our volunteers. Volunteers are needed for set-up, selling raffle tickets, greeting people, clean-up, distributing flyers, crowd control and many other important tasks. Your help would not only be valuable to us, but also a priceless experience for you.
Our many HIV prevention and outreach initiatives rely on volunteers to bring the programs to life. For example, Girl Power needs facilitators who can co-lead energetic and lively sessions for the students in the secondary schools where the program is run.
Girl Power facilitators need to commit to a weekend of training and then at least one full workshop at a school (three consecutive half days and one half-day follow-up session), as well as a review session for program evaluation at the end of the school year.
There are also opportunities to become a peer educator (at your school, or within your community, for example to disseminate the message in the Haitian or the Dominican Republic communities).
If you are unable at the moment to commit to the time required but still would like to assist with the workshops, please talk to us - there may be other opportunities for you to be involved in the program that could fit with your availability.
If you possess any of these skills, come and give us a hand!
Enhance your work experience with a volunteer internship at the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation!
